The Chef…..a brief profile of Michele Ruocco

Michele grew up in the region of Campania.

Sarno an important agricultural town nestled under a volcanic mountain range is a close neighbour of Naples, historic Pompei, and beautiful Amalfi. Micheles cooking skills were learned from his mother….sisters…and aunts…all skilled cooks and well used to feeding big families with the varied and abundant produce grown on the fertile slopes of mount Vesuvius.

Coming from a rural and agricultural background it was only a matter of time before he moved away!

Moving to join his brother and sister in law in Rome he completed his military service in the air-force before deciding on a career in catering and hotel management. Armed with a diploma in catering he set off for Switzerland where the finer arts of high class catering were honed…wines …..silver service…etiquette ..and the flambéing skills at which he excelled.

After Switzerland, a chain of circumstances bought Michele to South Devon where we met and married!
